She Sinks

The port side swing keel bolt leaks buckets. When she was "professionally" repaired at the boat yard they neglected to float test her. I finally got her in the water yesterday afternoon and this evening I received a phone call from a friend who was admiring her good looks at the marina that she had 4" of water in the cabin. I hurried over and pumped her out and sure enough a slow but steady stream of river water was entering the bilge through the improperly sealed swing bolt. Back to the boat yard today by tow launch. If I didn't have bad luck I'm not sure I'd have any luck at all... Sigh.

Re: She Sinks

That's not bad luck Tom but poor workmanship.  It's a simple fix - just slacken the bolt enough to get some sealant into the gaps between the washers (they did fit them didn't they?) and the case, wait for the sealant to cure, then tighten up.  But not too much - the keel casing is only grp so you don't want to crush it.
