8 years ago a group of us crossed the Pennines and had a week sailing on Derwent Water in the lake District. While there I visited the Sailing Centre located on the Spit at Glenridding, Ullswater.
Having sailed there many times with The Old Gaffers Association in a Lune Whammel I was surprised to see the vast improvement to the Centre under new management. Club House, proper toilets, showers and teaching room. Free tea and coffee for members and a really friendly atmosphere. Thy even have a tractor to launch and recover.
Instead of taking Charlotte back to the Tees I dropped her there and since then sailed there every season. Sleeping on board is improved by a cockpit tent.
Two years ago I sold Charlotte to a good friend who had sailed with me many times and loved her. Now I sail with him and he thinks of her as "our" boat
